Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is John Hughes and I’m a street photographer working mostly in Cambridge & London.
I spend hours walking the streets of these amazing cities hunting for the perfect moment and let me tell you it's a full-time job that I love.
My passion for street photography started with my photography teacher, a wonderful honest man whose name I will never forget, Mr Littlewood, I wish I could tell him just how much he meant to me.
He introduced me to the world of photography back in the 1980s, he then noticed I had a love for taking photos of people on the streets, this leads him to introduce me to the street photographers of New York City, there was one that I connected with almost immediately, Bruce Davidson this was through his book Subway and from the moment I saw the photos in that book I knew I wanted to be a street photographer.
I started this website so that I would be able to share my work with the world, the blogs came out of idea I had about what would be the best way to showcase my work and to be able to put my photos in context, I had no idea how much it was going to take off.
I’ve been on this wonderful Journey through the world of photography since I was 12 years old and I’ve never lost my passion for it. For the most part, you can find me on the streets of Cambridge and London. I like to keep things fresh by setting myself new goals and projects. Most of these projects will be available to view here on my website.
I've been lucky enough that I have had work featured in a few photography magazines both here in the UK and in New York, plus I've had work in galleries in London with some of the best street photographers working today.
