About Me

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is John Hughes, and I am a street photographer.

I dedicate countless hours to traversing the streets of towns and cities, diligently searching for the ideal moment to capture. This pursuit has become my full-time occupation, and I find immense joy in it.

My passion for street photography was nurtured by my photography instructor, a remarkable and forthright individual named Mr. Littlewood. His profound influence on my life is immeasurable. He introduced me to the realm of photography in the 1980s and observed my particular inclination for capturing the essence of people on the streets. This led him to connect me with the esteemed street photographers of New York. Among them, I was particularly drawn to Bruce Davidson, whose work I encountered through his book, “Subway.” The photographs in that book ignited a profound desire within me to pursue a career as a street photographer.

In response to this aspiration, I established this website to share my work with the global community. The blogs were conceived as a means of showcasing my work and providing context for my photographs. I was entirely unaware of the extent to which this endeavour would gain traction.

Since the age of twelve, I have embarked on an extraordinary journey through the world of photography, and my passion for it has remained unwavering. I am often found on the streets of Liverpool, Manchester, and Alicante, where I maintain a sense of freshness by setting new goals and undertaking projects. Most of these projects are available for viewing here on my website.

I am fortunate to have had my work featured in several photography magazines both within the United Kingdom and in New York. Additionally, I have had the privilege of exhibiting my work in galleries in London, alongside some of the most renowned street photographers of our time.
