A new spot

Things change and nothing lasts forever, this is true for all of us, if you're like me then change isn’t something I’m comfortable with and I find it hard, I like having somewhere that I’m familiar with I guess it’s like having a comfort blanket. Since the end of lockdown, Id found myself becoming uncomfortable in Starbucks, the old staff had started to leave and I just didn’t feel comfortable sitting in there working, I do miss chatting with Ella who took over as manager. It’s hard for me to explain, but I just felt out of place.

I was on the look for a new comfort blanket, I found my anxiety was raised with the prospect of finding somewhere new, and then I found the perfect place that inspires me to write a place that is fresh to the town. Not only does my new haunt have wonderful coffee it also has the best name for a coffee house, Midgar. The name will mean something to those of you that are familiar with Final Fantasy, Midgar is a fictional city that’s part of that franchise.

Midgars staff are friendly and welcoming which was just what I was hoping for and within a few days I felt right home, I’d found my new spot in the town, somewhere I can look forward to each day. Unlike Starbucks Midgar has lots of natural light which makes the place feel big and open, even though it’s small it doesn’t feel claustrophobic, it’s also in the perfect location. The coffee house is located just off from the town center on a small street which is full of independent shops and restaurants. The problem I had been in the center of town was people seeing me through the windows of Starbucks, I’d find myself being disturbed when I was trying to read, write or edit photos and I just couldn’t get anything done, with finding Midgar I’m now able to just get on with what I have to do and I don’t have to worry about being disturbed.

I feel blessed to have found somewhere that I feel comfortable, somewhere that is welcoming that also has great coffee, and a really comfortable red leather sofa.
