2025, what a year! I spent most of the year travelling, the Toronto Blue Jays almost won the World Series, times spent with good friends, and lots of street photography. Honestly, 2025 might’ve been my best year.
Every New Year’s Eve, I pray like most of us for a better year, and year after year, nothing changes, yet 2025 had something different in mind for me. One of the things my wife and I are thankful for is living close to Liverpool Airport, where we enjoy spending a few hours by the runway watching the planes. On one of these afternoons, I started looking to see if I could fly somewhere for the day, and I found a flight to Alicante for £60 return. Now, the last time I’d flown, I had a panic attack, and I needed to know if that was just one off, so I booked the flight. This was the start of something amazing for me and Elizabeth. The day I spent in Alicante, I couldn’t stop smiling; I felt alive, it was truly amazing, and it still makes me feel good now just thinking about it.
All I wanted to do was travel, and so that’s what I did. I ended up taking 22 flights from the end of April till the end of the year, incredible that this happened. Alicante multiple times, Barcelona and Sitges twice, and then a trip to Bangkok, which was amazing. Elizabeth and I are now planning our travel plans for 2026. Elizabeth has been so supportive this year; she has seen how happy I am when I’ve been travelling. I feel alive, and I’ve finally found something worth living for; this is massive for me as I struggle day to day.
I was lucky enough for my good friend James, who joined me on one of my trips to Barcelona, and I hope the both of us can do it again this coming year. James is a friend that is so supportive and understanding, he is like a rock for me and being around him is so uplifting and I’m thankful that he is in my life and I need to be a better friend to him. Jay is another close friend that again is so supportive, both of us are Leica brothers lol, we are such geeks and I love it.
The start of 2025, I was shooting street photography with a 10-year-old Fuji camera, and I ended the year shooting with the latest Leica SL. I need to write that again: I’m ending the year shooting with a Leica SL3-S. Owning a Leica has been a lifelong dream, and in 2025, the dream became reality.
So many crazy things happened during 2025, and if I were to write about them all, the blog would be so long and boring, so I’m going to leave it here and thank everyone from my wife, Elizabeth, to all my friends.
Let’s see what 2026 brings, and let’s hope it’s every bit as good as 2025.
