Bangkok bound

On the 1st of November, my wife and I will be Bangkok-bound once again. This will be our second visit to Bangkok, and honestly, we can’t wait.

This time round, we’re staying right in the heart of the action: Bangkok’s Chinatown. This was the area of the city that my wife and I really connected with. The people are really welcoming and friendly, which helps me cope with the hustle and bustle of Chinatown. This part of Bangkok never really sleeps, and I wanted to explore this early in the morning, maybe starting at around 5 a.m.

This could give me so many opportunities for my street photography. I’ll be able to leave Elizabeth in bed, and I’ll have the time to myself. Doing this will allow my wife to relax more. With the hotel being on Yaowarat Road, I’ll only be a few minutes away from meeting my wife when she rises from the dead, around midday 😁

There’s a market nearby that opens at 5 a.m. and is closed by 10am, we both missed this market on our last visit; however, we’ll make sure to check it out on this coming visit. Staying on Yaowarat Road is going to save us so much time, having no travelling to the areas we love. Everything is walking distance from our hotel.

Once again, I’ll be armed with the Leica SL3-S, and this will be paired with the Sigma 85mm F1.4. I found this combination perfect for Bangkok. Having just one camera and one lens helps me focus more on the streets. I don’t have to think about the gear; all I need to focus on is the moments that unfold in front of me.

We both intend to visit some of Bangkok’s floating markets as we missed them on our previous visit. I am particularly keen to capture moments on the city’s rivers. Bangkok offers numerous opportunities for street photography and I hope to make full use of my two and a half weeks there.

I have included some of my street photographs from my first visit to Bangkok, enjoy.
